Individual Member Benefits

As a Professional Outdoor Media Association of Canada (POMAC) member, in addition to being recognized as a professional communicator and member of Canada’s outdoors media, you receive a host benefits that will help you improve your craft, earn more money, and connect you with Canada’s outdoors communication leaders and influencers.

• Press credentials: As a recognized professional communicator and member of Canada’s outdoor media, you will gain you access to a wide range of outdoor events and industry shows.
  
• Professional development: Grow and improve your skills through POMAC-hosted online seminars, in-person conventions, and regular craft improvement articles in our Inside Outdoors monthly news blasts.
  
• Network: Access to our membership directory, which will allow you to easily connect with other members, including corporate members.
  
• Market and industry news: Get a front-row seat to news updates that inform you when media outlets from all genres are seeking new contributors, when corporate members release new products or services, and when employment opportunities arise with media or tourism partners.
  
• Awards: All members are eligible to enter our annual communications awards that recognize excellence in a wide range of categories. Award recipients are featured on our website and receive a monetary reward.
  
• Mentorship: Access to our mentor program. As a mentee we will link you with an experienced member in your discipline who can help you grow as an outdoors communicator. Individual Membership Classes

Individual memberships are available in three classes:

Active Member
For established and experienced communicators who meet the requisite criteria (see application form Link) subject to a periodic audit of qualifications.

Associate Member
For those engaged in outdoor communications but not yet established enough to meet active member requirements (subject to approval). An associate member may, upon meeting active requirements, request reclassification to active member status. Associate members are entitled to all benefits received by Active Members but may not vote at our AGM or other special meetings.

Student Member
Applicants must be enrolled in an institution of higher learning or participating in the POMAC Mentor Program. Student memberships are limited to two years and which time they will be upgraded to Active or Associate.

Corporate Member Benefits

As a POMAC corporate member you are an agency, group or business demonstrating your support for Canada’s outdoors communications industry.

Other benefits include:

• Access to our membership directory, which will allow you to easily connect with Canada’s leading outdoors communicators. This ensures that your services, products and information are getting into the right hands.
  
• The opportunity to keep POMAC members apprised of your corporation’s activities and news by contributing to Inside Outdoors, our monthly news blast.
  
• The opportunity to offer accredited outdoors media professionals preferred access to your products and services.
  
• POMAC’s corporate members are eligible to elect one of their own to sit on the POMAC board and help direct the organization’s future direction.
